Getting to Know Our Vice-President

Armando Gomez at NILA 2009, Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX.
NILA is the National Institute for Leadership Advancement and is the premier leadership training event for SHPE.
I want to introduce myself not as the Vice President of SHPE PSC, for 2009-2010, but rather as a professional engineer, just like many of you, who is excited about the future of our organization. This year we have an exciting team, and I’m really fortunate to be working with a great group of people dedicated to making SHPE PSC the chapter of the year again, again, and again.
My focus will be directed towards improving membership services, surpass our goal of having more than 100 registered members and expand our financial resources by the end of the fiscal year. Already we have been able to leverage our technical talent within our membership. Contigo Technology Consulting, lead by one of our own, has just expanded our website services. Furthermore, we have expanded our corporate sponsorship and partnerships, as evidenced by our first two General Body Meetings. Thanks Turner Construction Co. and Puget Sound Energy! Also, since we have such a magnificent leadership team, we have been very successful with our financial goals. Our diligent grant proposals have been well received by our sponsors and we expect to continue growing our financial capabilities which will feed our hunger to do more in our communities. Finally, we’re already well into reaching our goal of having more than 100 registered members, and we’re not even mid-year. Microsoft has really stepped up their support by sponsoring 100 free 1-year memberships for their full time employees in the state of Washington. For more information, please visit our new website!
Thanks for taking the time to make SHPE PSC a great organization!
