Upon our return from the National Conference in Washington, D.C, we were inspired to close out a successful year with number of great activities and strong member participation. In November, we held our social networking game night at Game Works in downtown. The activity was a success and quickly became one of the year favorites for our members. This was followed by our community outreach event held at Microsoft, where we hosted the University of Washington student retreat. Members of the student chapter of SHPE, NSBE, AISES, and SWE were given the opportunity and tools to plan out their goals for the year. The end of November saw our 2nd Leadershpe meeting, which was held at one of our member’s houses. This event started as a dinner to plan events and has grown to include members that wish to find out about our upcoming activities and participate in giving input to make the activity successful. December was the kick start to our MentorShpe program. Professional members were matched up with student mentees from the University of Washington. Dinner was held at the Caspian Persian Restaurant to introduce all the participants and included a white elephant gift exchange. This was a great way to end the year and to start the Holiday season. January will be a busy month with many activities being planned. We are coming off a successful end to 2009 and hope to carry the momentum into 2010. The opportunities are endless. I would like to encourage you to read below the events we have planned for you this month.
